In anticipation of establishing the ASEAN-ROK Digital School, the Research and Development Center for Human Resources (Puslitbang SDP3I) made a significant visit to the Committee on Science, Technology, and Innovation (COSTI) at the B.J. Habibie Building in Central Jakarta. COSTI is the authoritative body managing the realms of science, technology, and innovation within ASEAN.
Boediastoeti Ontowirjo, the Deputy for Research and Innovation Policy at BRIN, indicated that COSTI is set to support the inception of the ASEAN-Korea Digital School through an endorsement process via the ASEAN Advisory Board.
Hary Budiarto, the Head of Human Resource Development Agency, conveyed that the ASEAN-Korea Digital School''s mission is to elevate digital talents, enhancing their skills to develop enterprises capable of creating new job markets, absorbing labor, and being absorbed by the industry. The long-term outcome is aimed at improving Indonesia''s Digital Society Index (IMDI). "We will also push for the inclusion of the least developed provinces in Indonesia to participate in this program alongside attendees from the other 10 ASEAN countries," stated Hary.
Furthermore, Nusirwan, the Head of Puslitbang SDP3I, announced that there would be five focus areas proposed for the ASEAN-Korea Digital School, including data management, smart systems, IT security for digital businesses, software engineering, and 3D printing innovation. These areas are expected to collaborate with the Indonesian AI Association. Training is scheduled to begin in August, with the goal of certifying 100-200 participants by 2024.
