The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics held a courtesy meeting at the KOICA Indonesia Office in South Jakarta, marking 16 years of collaboration between the two entities.

Country Director Jeong Yun-Gil and Deputy Country Director Lee Jihyee from KOICA welcomed the delegation from the Ministry, led by Nusirwan, Head of the Research and Development Center for Post and Informatics (Puslitbang SDPPPI), and acting Head of BPPTIK, along with the Microcredential and Digital School Team of Puslitbang SDPPPI. The visit was centered around discussions on the ongoing development of human resources in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

Over the past 16 years, KOICA and the Ministry of Communication and Informatics have collaborated on several key initiatives, beginning with the establishment of the Korea-Indonesia ICT Training Center (BPPTIK) in 2007. This was followed by IT training for Indonesian central and regional governments in 2013, and support for the management and operations of BPPTIK in 2018.

The meeting underscored the need to enhance collaborative commitments with KOICA in human resource development, including ICT skill certification, training, alumni support, and other international cooperations. One of the primary focus areas will be the ASEAN – ROK Digital School in 2024, where BPPTIK will serve as a certification hub for participants from the Indonesian and ASEAN community.

Additionally, the ASEAN – ROK Digital School is set to play a pivotal role in developing 9 million digital talents and 4 million entrepreneurs to boost Indonesia''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s digital economy.

BPPTIK and KOICA are set to undertake three main actions moving forward. First, to provide certification and skills ensuring Indonesian workers meet the professional qualifications in line with South Korean industry standards. Second, to offer ongoing support for alumni, including career counseling. Lastly, to develop a platform to support the digital delivery of training and certification services.
