Jakarta, 14 December 2022 - After successfully holding the "10x1000 Tech for Inclusion" Program (“10x1000”) in six batches from June to November 2022, the Digital Entrepreneurship Academy (DEA) Kominfo and 10x1000 held a closing event as well as an alumni meeting forum through the "10x1000 Indonesia Chapter Closing Event" – 2022: Networking, Start Here!” on Wednesday (14/12) at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Jakarta.
The event was opened by Hary Budiarto as the Head of the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics HR Research and Development Agency. He stressed the importance of fintech to support the development of MSMEs in Indonesia. "Align with the digital transformation of the MSME sector, Indonesia has targeted as many as 50 percent or 64 million MSMEs to use digital platforms to increase sales. The target of onboarding MSMEs to digital platforms to optimize the potential for economic growth is what makes fintech an important contributor in digitizing MSMEs," said Hary.
Furthermore, Said Mirza Pahlevi as the Head of the Center for Research and Development of Resources in his remarks said that low digital financial literacy among MSMEs is still a crucial problem. "Amid the rapid development of fintech, digital financial literacy is still relatively low, this is our reason for collaborating with the "10x1000 Tech for Inclusion" program, said Mirza.`
Mirza said that within six months of the training which consisted of six batches, there were 224 participants had completed the “Flex” Fintech Foundation Program. Based on the age distribution, the age range of 30-35 years is the largest number of participants who took part in this program. Meanwhile, based on gender, there were 67.6% male participants and 32.4% female participants who took part in the program.
The event was followed by a presentation by Yohan as Deputy Secretary for Coordination of Quality Improvement for Children, Women and Youth of the Coordinating Ministry for PMK and Edhi Kusdiyarwoko as Assistant Deputy for Entrepreneurial Financing of the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises regarding the huge potential of MSMEs through the use of fintech.
In addition, Carrie Suen as Senior Advisor for International Public Policy and Government Affairs at Ant Group and Vincent Iswara as CEO and Co-Founder of DANA Indonesia also gave a talk show entitled "Fintech Talk: Before, Now, and Next". They said that efforts to advance fintech more broadly would be carried out through innovation in 2023 where the "10x1000 Tech for Inclusion" program would be available in Bahasa Indonesia.
Jason Pau, Program Lead of 10x1000 said, “Our partnership with Kominfo expanded our reach in Indonesia and facilitated more than 200 new learners to have the access to our program since June. These learners have formed a vibrant alumni community and we are celebrating its success today. We will bring more programs to Indonesia including our Fintech Foundation Program in Bahasa next year, with which we hope the wider Bahasa-speaking tech community in Indonesia will have access to our program and drive digital economic growth in Indonesia,” said Jason.
Through the "10x1000 Closing Event 2022", Kominfo appreciates all parties who have made this program successful, especially Ant Group and Dana Indonesia who have partnered with the Ministry of Communication and Information to support the acceleration of the digital transformation of Indonesian MSMEs. Appreciation is also given to partners; AFTECH, AFPI, idEA, ABI, AFSI, ALUDI, Perbanas, ASBISINDO, AASI, 1000 Startup Digital, DEA Mentors, and participants who have attended and are committed to participating in the "10x1000 Tech for Inclusion" program.
At the end of the event, Riza Azmi as the DEA Program Coordinator, gave closing remarks. "Hopefully today’s closing event can open a space for collaboration for alumni to mutually develop financial technology, financial digitization and financial inclusion in the future," he concluded.
